In February the year long foot and mouth quarantine was also lifted, allowing WCFJC to purchase 15 goats for distribution to 15 qualified beneficiaries. The goats will be handed out in March 2009, following confirmation that the 15 qualified beneficiaries are still in good standing:
- constructed a goat shed that meets the Veterinary Officer’s requirements
- have a goat fodder garden
- have a kitchen vegetable garden
- have an energy saving stove in their kitchen
- have a hygienic pit latrine
Three of the beneficiaries from WCFJC’s first group of beneficiaries are ready pay back WCFJC for the goat they received by passing on a she-goat to another beneficiary within the project.
Hair Salon Project:
Earnings from the Hair Salon are prior month. February is a relatively quiet month in Uganda – no festivities and therefore no real reason for women to head to the hair salon for special beauty treatments!

A meeting was therefore held with poultry beneficiaries to discuss the new requirements and to obtain their views and opinions. During the same meeting, the financial performance of each poultry house in the project was also discussed, in great detail.

School Project:
Although this project receives little to no support from WCFJC, it continues to grow. In 2009 the school increased its offering to include a 2nd grade class. Last year, the school opened its doors to its first 1st grade class, in addition to the three nursery school classes already offered
