WCFJC News November, 2008
Goat Project:
We celebrate the growth of our goat herd with this month’s birth of 13 kids!
It looks like our newest he-goat (Jenny) is prolific at siring twins – November
saw the birth of six sets of twins and one single birth. At this rate, we will
soon have enough goats out there to start a small milk processing facility!
WCFJC continues to patiently wait for the lifting of
the Foot and Mouth Quarantine that has prevented us from purchasing and
distributing goats to beneficiaries this year.
Poultry Project:
Given the poultry’s declining egg productivity levels, WCFJC endeavored to
sell off as many of the birds as it could find buyers for. The flock is now down
to 255 and we hope to sell all but 150 of them in December. The remaining 150
birds belong to the only poultry house that continues to register a profit –
Hope House. During the month of November WCFJC sold most of the birds in the
poultry project. # of Trays of Eggs Sold (1 tray = 30 eggs) in 2008

Hair Salon Project:
WCFJC supported Mwesigwa Women’s Group by purchasing US$ 250 worth of salon
supplies. We also registered the group’s chairperson (Betty Kakuba) for a one
month internship with a hair salon in the nearest urban center, Jinja. Ms.
Kakuba hopes that the internship will improve her skills and knowledge and that
she will be able to pass this on to her co-operators.
