Goat Program:
During November 2 goats were delivered (1 male, 1 female). 2 kids died and one of the goats purchased from FARM Africa Mbale for the Breeding Center also died. Since the program began in 2006, WCFJC has lost a total of 4 males and 12 females, primarily to poor hygienic practices among beneficiaries. More effort will need to be put into monitoring and supervision. From an initial herd of 15, total current herd size is now 93.

The goats purchased from FARM Africa for the Breeding Center were returned to Mbale. A full refund was received for each goat with the exception of the above mentioned goat that died during delivery. A 50% refund was obtained for the dead animal. Reasons for the return are as follows:

  • General poor health
  • Absence of breeding records

Poultry Program:
The poultry program continues to flourish with the birds on track to begin laying eggs in March 2010.

School Program:
The school currently does not have a home as the owners of the building being rented previously have taken it off the market. An organization called PFO pledged to pay fees for 50 of the 92 pupils. The school definitely needs a new home.
