How do you select the women you work with?
WCFJC has a rigorous and multi-layered selection process. Potential program participants are recommended to WCFJC for consideration by women who are current participants in the WCFJC Women in Business Program. WCFJC then conducts reference checks through interviews with local community and civil society leaders. Reference checks are followed by an in-depth face to face interview with the nominated potential participant as well as a physical visit to nominee’s place of business and her home. The interview includes an assessment of the nominee’s ability to repay the in-kind loan. Notably, since the Women in Business Program was launched in 2015, WCFJC has only had one loan defaulter.
